Help continue the legacy of Dr. Teresa Marshall
Please donate for the animals in memory of The Haven's late founder, Dr. Teresa Marshall, DVM.
Dr. Teresa Bell (Tesi) Marshall, DVM, 64, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2019. A beloved Fairhope veterinarian, she owned and operated her very successful private practice, Downtown Animal Clinic. Here, she built strong relations with clients, business leaders, local rescue groups, and animal control shelters.
Dr. Marshall was very active in ending pet homelessness in her community from the beginning. She quickly identified a problem where unwanted dogs and cats with treatable illnesses were being euthanized. Dr. Marshall knew that she had the tools, resources, and veterinary skills to help these animals heal and find permanent, loving homes. This led Dr. Marshall to form The Haven No-Kill Animal Shelter, Baldwin County's first no-kill animal shelter.
Today, Dr. Marshall's legacy continues on saving the lives of homeless pets while also providing community resources to pet owners. To date, The Haven has helped place over 10,500 homeless pets.
Born March 11, 1955, to Sam and Philomena Marshall in Pensacola, FL, Tesi developed her love for animals when she was introduced to horses as a young girl. Initially participating in amateur events, she eventually traveled around the country competing as a professional hunter/jumper. Her love for horses ultimately inspired her to choose veterinary medicine as her career.
Tesi was one of those rare individuals blessed with a brain for both science and art. You could often find her roaming the shores of Mobile Bay with her pack of rescued dogs, scavenging for driftwood treasures. With her artist's eye and a doctor's skilled hands, she would turn these washed-up pieces into beautiful furniture and art, which she loved to gift to her closest family and friends.
As anyone who met her quickly learned, her family, especially her 2 children, were always her first priority. She is survived by her daughter, Katy English; son, Mathew English; their father, Joe English; her brother, Mike Marshall and his wife Suzy, and three nephews. Teresa Marshall lived more in her 64 years than most do in a lifetime. For those who knew and loved her, the brightness and humor that followed her wherever she went will be missed eternally. Would you please continue Dr. Marshall's important legacy to end pet homelessness by making a tax-deductible donation in her memory?
